Campus Martius is THE spot to hang out this holiday season. Of course the 60 foot Norwegian spruce at the center of it all is nothing to scoff at, nor is the community ice rink where you can sip hot cocoa and dust off your ice skating skills . Yet this year we think the real show stopper is Central Kitchen + Bar’s pop-up cocktail and snack bar. Aptly named the Cadillac Lodge due to its location in Cadillac Square, the space boasts a giant heated tent where you can catch up with friends over a game of giant Jenga, or enjoy a cozy date on a couch in front of one of the adorable TV fireplaces. We’d best describe the decor as ski lodge-chic. Inside there are big leather couches, woodsy branch-like chandeliers, shelves lined with books, and white lights draped throughout the space. We are positively obsessed.
It doesn’t stop with the amazing interior. Check out the bar and you’ll find a warm craft cocktail menu with drinks like the Mint Chocolate Chip (Smirnoff Peppermint & hot chocolate) or the Caramel Apple (Smirnoff Caramel and Cider). There is also a small food section – we recommend the house chips and dip. Its the perfect pairing for a warm holiday beverage.
No doubt about it, Detroit has hit the mark this year in making the Campus Martius area a popular social space for both locals and visitors a like. We have been there several time ourselves and hope to make it out a few more! According to the Detroit Parks Page, the space will stay up until January 28th.
