Dreary and Dreamy Christmas in Detroit

The past two years my sister’s and I have rented a suite at the Atheneum in Detroit right around Christmas time. We spend the evening eating and drinking our way through Greektown with a stop at Campus Martius Park to enjoy the tree and watch terrible ice skaters fall down. Obviously you don’t need to stay at a hotel to enjoy these things but nothing kills a Christmas buzz like a terrible uber ride home, so having a place to stay within walking distance is a plus. This year we went the day after Christmas and had the best time! We are currently celebrating our little sister’s wedding engagement so we used our stay-cation to make a million champagne toasts. The weather was a bit wet but it actually made all the Christmas lights seem even more twinkly. Hopefully you all had the best holiday and made some time to check out Detroit’s lovely lights and tree.

People watching at the skating rink is the BEST!
Even when it’s dreary Detroit looks cute. We were on the 9th floor of the Atheneum
