Enchanting Evening in the Motor City :: Iridescence

What a night! Yesterday was a bit of a whirlwind, filled with delectable food and lots of laughs. Thank you to Motorcity Casino Hotel and Iridescence for sponsoring Blogger’s Night Out. We had a lovely time chatting with other foodies from the area, while enjoying an absolutely elegant meal. Afterward we were given tickets to see Margaret Cho at the Sound Board. So much fun! Well, without further ado, here’s our meal in a nutshell:

We felt like we were inside an opal seashell surrounded by floating bubbles.
Couldn’t stop looking up.
What a view! <3
OMG this breadbasket.
Can’t quite remember what this starter was. But very small and very cute.
This was so good. Mushroom “Toast”: seasonal mushrooms, crispy risotto cake, gruyere mousse, black truffles, and quail egg. I’d like to be eating this right now.
Probably the best Caesar Salad I’ve had. That is a polenta crouton, so gluten free!
A very refreshing drink. No alcohol in mine. : p
When the chef heard I was vegetarian, he made me this special dish! There is always a vegetarian meal of the day, but this isn’t the one that was being featured. It’s a chickpea crepe, and every bit as delicious as you might think: chickpeas, lentils, mushroom, garlic, harissa, golden raisins, cumin, and infused creme fraiche. I had to ask our server to pause while I wrote all of this down in my iPhone notepad. So many good things!
A closer look.
Hello to the most beautiful sight I have ever seen.
This was called the Milky Way. So we ended the night with an out of this world dessert!

My final thoughts: If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, a place for date night, or just a reason to dress up and go out on the town, I highly suggest Iridescence. We even rented a room at the hotel and gambled a bit after. Best night ever!
