Girls Gone Hungry: Best Places for The Impossible Burger Around Detroit

It’s no secret our vegetarian half has been obsessing over the Impossible Burger for some time.  For those of you who haven’t heard about this meatless miracle yet, the Impossible Burger is a plant-based patty that “bleeds” and sizzles when it cooks. It’s made using an ingredient called haem (or heme, an iron-containing compound that’s abundant in animal muscle) and aims to mimic that basic meaty flavor.  Many restaurants have added the meat substitute to their menus, and we love how each one adds it’s own twist to the patty. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite options from around Metro Detroit below.

Ale Mary’s  Royal Oak

Ale Mary’s provides an entirely separate vegan menu for their plant eating friends and offers a few different varieties of the Impossible Burger. Our favorite is the Southwest Burger which comes with pico de gallo, fresh avocado, chipotle aioli, and FYH provolone.

We love the Impossible Burger at Ale Mary’s!

Public House Ferndale

We love PH’s spin on the Impossible Burger. They offer sliders with tomato, lettuce, dill pickle, pickled red onion, an veganaise.  Public House also offers batter-fried tofu, hazelnut dusted cauliflower, and vegan blt sandwiches.  If this wasn’t reason enough to stop by and grab dinner and a drink, they’ve added french fries to their menu.

Public House has a few vegetarian sliders we love the Impossible Burger best!

Bobcat Bonnies Ferndale & Detroit

When we get our vegetarian fix at Bobcat Bonnies, we order the classic burger and sub the regular meat patty for the Impossible. The classic comes with american cheese, special sauce, shredded lettuce, pickle, and a brioche bun. For any vegetarians out there craving a good old fashioned burger, this will surely do the trick!

Bobcat Bonnie’s Impossible burger is impossibly good!

Whalburgers  Detroit & Taylor

Whalburgers was one of the first restaurants to carry the Impossible Burger.  This sandwich comes with smoked cheddar, lettuce, caramelized onions,  housemade chili spiced tomatoes, and Paul’s signature whal sauce. Add some tots and enjoy!

Hell yeah to Wahlburger’s Impossible Burger!

The Emory Ferndale

The Emory’s spin on the Impossible Burger comes complete with red onion, romaine, tomato, and spicy ketchup. If you’re not vegan we suggest you add one of our favorite Emory sauces, the black garlic aioli. Pro tip: order the jalapeno and cheese pierogi to start.

The Brioche Bun makes this Impossible Burger extra special!

White Castle pretty much everywhere

Huge props to White Castle for being the first fast food join in our area to carry the Impossible Burger meat and use it for their sliders.  Vegetarians have very limited options for a quick bite to eat and having White Castle provide them with the Impossible Burger is seriously a dream come true. We are hoping other Fast food restaurants follow their lead.

Fast Food Impossible Burger is a dream come to true when you are on the go!
