Girls Gone Hungry does The ‘BURBS Vol 1

We did a poll on our Instagram account last week and you let us know you’d love to see more restaurants in the Suburbs. You want it, you got it! Once a week we will spend a day eating through the ‘burbs just for you. We’ll pick three places and give you all the tasty deets. Here we go!

Oh, and we definitely are excited to use our favorite movie The ‘Burbs as inspiration for this blog name. #TOMHANKSWELOVEYOUFOREVER

Our first stop today was the new Ima location in Madison Heights. If you love the Detroit location, or are just looking for a great noodle spot outside of downtown this will be one of your new favorites. I tried the shoyu ramen – roasted chicken-shoyu broth • soft egg • lily blossom • roasted baby corn. This was a delicious bowl and perfect for the cold weather. I also noticed quite a few vegan options like vegan phó and forest udon. There were also some gluten-free options!

It’s very important to show off your noodles

Next stop I wanted to check out a place I had seen on a few people’s Instagram accounts. It’s called Casper Burger & Escalope and it’s tucked away in a strip mall in Sterling Heights. Their menu is mostly burgers, fries and subs. I watched them making the burgers and they were BIG. Try the Casper One Eyed Burger for a truly messy sandwich. It was topped with fries, bacon, a fried egg, cheese, red onion and avocado. I was pretty full from my Ramen but I ordered their CRAZY fries to go. These were topped with ground beef, chili, melted cheddar cheese, sour cream, avocado and flaming hot Cheetos. The portion was huge – I definitely recommend these fries to share! I checked with the staff and they informed me everything on the menu is Halal! They also take call in orders and are listed on a few delivery apps.

Crazy Fries. These actually are crazy. So many toppings!

Last but not least I needed something sweet! I stopped by Kung Fu Tea, also in Sterling Heights. They carry Bubble Tea, slushies, and some VERY tasty macarons. I loved what I ordered, The Green Tea Mango with Mango Jelly and 3 delicious macarons. This place was small and a little disorganized inside but I still enjoyed my order.

This tea was so tasty! Loved the Mango Jelly!
From top to bottom: White Chocolate, Creme Brûlée, and Almond Wedding Cake. All of these flavors were perfect!
