Our Favorite Veggie Burger :: Vinsetta Garage’s EV1

With half our team being vegetarian, people will often ask us where to find our favorite veggie burger.  Metro Detroit has a robust and growing vegetarian food scene, and one of these days we are going to make a post dedicated to all our best-loved veggie food in the area. But when it comes to our favorite burger – well there is a clear winner: the EV1 from Vinsetta Garage in Berkley. If you haven’t been to Vinsetta Garage, you don’t know what you’re missing.  It is located on iconic Woodward Avenue, and housed in a car garage that has been converted into a restaurant.

If the unique space isn’t enough to draw you in, the food is sure to do the trick. The menu offers items like burgers, mac & cheese, coal fired pizza, as well as their famous Faygo ice cream.  Yet a little known secret that misses much of the limelight is their veggie burger, the EV1.  Created with a house-made vegan patty,  it features coal fire tomatoes, arugula, broccoli sprouts, goat cheese, shiitake bacon,  and roasted garlic balsamic mayo. It’s a fairly non traditional patty that makes no attempt to taste or look like real beef.  Therein lies it’s appeal. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t. Instead the chef focused on creating something that is bursting with flavor and a delight in each bite.  And great news for the vegans out there. You can opt for the pretzel bun, sub out Daiya cheese & lose the mayo!

Check out our photo journal below to see all our favorite items from Vinsetta Garage.

The EV1. Gosh, it’s gorgeous.
Another look. The shiitake bacon is phenomenal.
Coal-fired bread + pazzo dip. You guys, we eat all of it.
Vinsetta Garage is also well known for their cocktails. <3
The non-vegetarian half of GGH loves the 3AM Burger: Half-pound Vinsetta blend patty, Swiss, Woodshop MI maple bacon, topped with a fried cage-free egg & crispy fried onion strings, Sriracha mayo
