We love Detroit and the experiences we’ve had while exploring this city. We grew up in Warren and Romeo, Michigan but always loved visiting Detroit with our parents. They both grew up on the East Side and attended Osborn High school. They would drive us past their old houses and tell us stories of playing with friends in the allies behind their homes and spending the summer riding their bikes around the neighborhood. They took us to Belle Isle to feed the deer and we had pictures taken in the conservatory every Easter. On Sundays we would ride the people mover and eating Nikki’s Pizza in Greektown was a special treat. They never taught us to fear the city they grew up in, and now living in Ferndale we get to spend as much time as we want exploring the city just south of our home. Detroit isn’t perfect but if you get a chance to visit please enjoy the culture and history it has to offer.
