What I Ate in Miami :: South Beach Edition

I’ve been home for a few weeks now but I’m still dreaming of my Miami vacation! Food in South Beach can be pretty expensive so make sure you budget for that, not to mention the pricey drinks. We saved money by having our biggest meal at breakfast. You can find lots of good deals along Ocean Drive and the hotels are vying for your business so they will offer discounted drinks to entice you. Take advantage of that! We usually skipped lunch or just grabbed an appetizer with a drink when the beach got too hot. We had 2 fancier meals for dinner and then grabbed pizza and some awesome noodles the other 2 nights.

Our first night we stumbled upon Tequila Chicas, this flat bread pizza was AWESOME
Our hotel had the best bar called Repour. It is located just inside the lobby and had an excellent Happy Hour between 5-8. The bartenders were great too! Check out the bartender Tyler’s kickstarter page, they use alot of his small batch tonics in their drinks!
My boyfriend ordered this breakfast burrito from the Front Porch Cafe located in the Z Ocean hotel. It was his favorite food of the trip!
This was my french toast from the Front Porch Cafe. It was made with challah bread and was divine. You could get potatoes as a side too! Give me all the carbs!
My boyfriend saw a sign saying Madero Steakhouse had the world’s best burger so we insisted we eat here. It was pretty good! And right on Ocean Drive so you can’t beat the atmosphere
We got these Mimosas for free with our breakfast! This was at the Amarillo South Beach
Yummy waffles with berries and cream. This was only 8 dollars I think. Also from the Amarillo South Beach
More drinks from Repour bar. They were so good, I wish I could go back >.<
It ain’t pretty but these noodles from the Sriracha House were my favorite meal! Was 30 bucks for 2 entrees and a coke and beer. Pretty reasonable dinner compared to some of the other places we ate.
The Clevelander had my favorite frozen drinks. This was a rum runner + pina colada. Perfection! We got really good soft pretzels from here too
My boyfriend liked this bloody mary from The Carlyle but he didn’t realize it cost 20 dollars until we got our check >.<
This crunchy french toast was so good. This was also from the Carlyle Cafe. Robin Williams filmed The Bird Cage at this hotel!

Here are some links to the restaurants we ate at! ::

Carlyle Cafe :: Make sure you pay attention to prices before you order! I probably wouldn’t eat here for any meal besides breakfast

The Front Porch Cafe:: Awesome food and reasonable prices, plus a great view. I highly recommend!

The Sriracha House:: Loved this place! You customize a noodle dish and they cook it up for you!

Madero Steakhouse:: Located on a less busy section of Ocean Drive so a quieter place to eat. Pretty expensive but food was good and our waiter was really nice

Tequila Chicas:: Drinks were good and food was pretty standard. Again, expect to spend some money

The Clevelander:: This place is definitely more laid back during the day, we never ate or drank here at night when the party really starts. Pay attention to the daily drink specials to get the best deals. Definitely a fun place to day drink and you are so close to the beach. I love my frozen drinks here even if they cost 12 bucks.

Repour Bar:: Even if you aren’t staying the The Albion, visit this bar during the 5-8 Happy Hour. Best drinks and great atmosphere

So… my main tips for eating out in South Beach, Miami ::

  1. Pay attention to food and drink prices so you aren’t shocked when the bill comes in
  2. Keep in mind many places on Ocean Drive will ALREADY have your gratuity included on the bill
  3. Make breakfast your biggest meal to save money
  4. Check yelp if you have time, lots of helpful reviews and tips for all the restaurants
  5. Get the most for your money by eating some of your dinners at the smaller pizza places/noodle bars/burger places that are off Ocean Drive.
  6. LOOK for Happy Hour specials!
